Garibaldi arrives on Mars and meets William Edgars
Michael Garibaldi meets Wilhelm Edgars and get informed about the Secrets of Power. This Babylon 5 scene explains very much the current situation on our World very well too. Who has the Power and who rule behind the scenes. Edgars runs the fourth-largest corporation on Earth. His company is involved in chemical and biological weapons manufacturing as well as pharmaceutical production. Edgars says President Clark has become increasingly paranoid since taking office. Learning of the Shadows’ interest in Psi Corps, Clark developed an interest as well. As his paranoia increased, he started giving the Corps more and more power, since telepaths were able to tell him absolutely whether the people around him were loyal. The Corps, of course, isn’t eager to give up its newfound clout, and Edgars and others fear that if Sheridan takes his battle to Earth, Clark may panic and give the Corps unprecedented control over society, a development that wouldn’t be easy to reverse. He therefore wants Sheridan’s campaign stopped for Earth’s own good. According to Edgars, the real power in Earthdome has never been in the hands of the politicians; the mega-corporations have always called the shots. They let Clark declare martial law, but didn’t foresee the Psi Corps connection until it was too late.

That’s all that faith requires. That we surrender ourselves to the possibility of hope. For that I’m content.
Not useless, but it is also not enough. Faith and reason are the shoes on your feet. You can travel further with both than you can with just one.
Faith sustains us in the hour when reason tells us that we can not continue, that the whole of our whole lives is without meaning.
The truth is sometimes what you believe it to be, and other times what you decide it to be. My task is to make you decide to believe differently.
It does prove though how everything is a matter of perspective. You see what you think is daylight, and you assume it’s morning. Take it away, you think it’s night. Offer you a sandwich, if it’s convenient, you’ll think it’s mid-day. The truth is fluid, the truth is subjective.
You misunderstand me, Prime Minister. I was merely being specific. In my experience, if you can not say what you mean, you can never mean what you say. The details are everything.
Durano to Londo - Babylon 5
Words have meaning and names have power. The universe begun with a word, you know. But which came first: the word or the thought behind the word? You can’t create language without thought .. and you can’t conceive a thought without language. So which created the other and, thus, created the universe?
Lorien - Babylon 5
Who are you? What do you want? Who are you? What do you want? Who are you? Who are you?
What are a few million lives compared to the glory of becoming a living god?
Cartagi - Babylon 5
If there’s a madman on the throne, it’s because you and Refa put him there. He’s your responsibility and you .. you are mine. Based on our warm relations of the past, my associates asked for you as our liaison to the Royal Court.
Morden to Londo - Babylon 5
You know, it’s come to my attention lately that we have a common enemy. There’s an old saying: ‘The enemy of my enemy is my friend.’ President Clark isn’t calling the shots back home, there’re others whispering in his ear. I don’t know who they are or where they are from, but do I know they are not human. I have only heard one name for them: Shadows. My guess is you know more about them than I do, but you are probably not interested in sharing that information. Are you?
He spent the last year putting his people in key places. Anyone who raises a voice is immediately arrested and charged with treason. Under conditions like that, it’s .. it’s easier to keep quiet.
Major Ryan - Babylon 5
We have just been thrust into the middle of extraordinary events. So we must approach this calmly and rationally. Those are not the enemy out there. We wear the same uniforms, and we’ve both sworn to uphold the Constitution. They’re as loyal to Earth as you are, and we will render humanitarian aid to them. Because .. as much as our humanity .. got us into this .. our humanity’s the only thing that’s going to get us out again.
Sheridan - Babylon 5
