California Lawmaker Wants 3-D Printers To Be Regulated - Slashdot

seattle-gadgets:

New submitter phrackthat writes with news that California State Senator Leland Yee (D-S.F.) says he wants regulations to track who owns and uses 3-D printers. Yee’s comments come in response to the recent news of Defense Distributed’s successful test-firing of a 3-D printed gun. “He’s concerned that just about anyone with access to those cutting-edge printers can arm themselves. ‘Terrorists can make these guns and do some horrible things to an individual and then walk away scott-free, and that is something that is really dangerous,’ said Yee. He said while this new technology is impressive, it must be regulated when it comes to making guns. He says background checks, requiring serial numbers and even registering them could be part of new legislation that he says will protect the public. Yee added, ‘This particular gun has no trace whatsoever.’”’
Basically he believes anyone who owns a 3d printers is automatically a terrorist or a criminal, unless the goverment says otherwise. For our protection. We have to register our property with the goverment and have permission of said goverment to own a 3d printer. What a nice world we live in. Also something I predicted would be tried 3 months ago.

The student who was expelled and arrested because of her idiotic school said her science experiment was a weapon.

Will, a lot of people got on the web and crowed sourced a trip for her to space camp! Glad people are looking out for her and I hope she has lots of fun and positive memories.

Adam Kokesh charged with felony assault on an officer held without bail

I take this charge with a very big grain of salt. Lets just say I belive this a made up charge so they can silence him. In the end all they will end up doing is making a martyr. Someone people will flack around as a symbol.

Female Egyptian TV Host Removes Headscarf, Berates Cleric Who ‘Peddles’ Islam in Explosive Interview

freeplanetickettonorthkorea:

Egyptian women have been slowly losing what few rights they had as Islamists cement their rule in the country, but in a recent interview, one female television host wasn’t having any of it.

The Middle East Media Research Institute compiled the most explosive and telling scenes from the Al-Nahar TV interview between the host Riham Said and the cleric Yousuf Badri.  The clip actually begins before the interview, with the two informally chatting about how the woman will have to cover her hair to interview him.

“Outside this studio, in your daily life, you deal all the time with Muslim women who do not wear the veil,” she says with a smile, the two looking directly at one another.  “You have no problem talking to me without the hijab, and then, when the viewers can see, you make we wear it?”

“Let’s just start the show,” he says.

The clip then skips to a segment on sexual harassment by clerics, which the man has no interest in acknowledging or discussing.

“This is a provocation,” he says in a far harsher tone than before the show.  “Change the subject. Talk about things that interest people, about public affairs.”

“From the moment you sat down, you’ve been shouting at me and mocking me, even though we paid you 1,000 Egyptian pounds to come here,” the host retorts, removing her headscarf.  “You didn’t come to answer questions. You came to pick a fight…What kind of cleric demands 1,000 pounds?”

The cleric grows increasingly agitated as Said speaks, now refusing to look at her and repeatedly demanding: “Change the subject!”

He eventually threatens: “Change the subject and put on that hijab!…I will shut your channel down!”

Badri continues to yell at the woman when she stands up and says she’ll be the one setting the terms.

She tells the audience: “This is the kind of person who sues TV channels, attacks the media, and puts on a show for the viewers.  It is very unfortunate that people like this peddle our religion.  I’m the one leaving, not you.”

Watch the fiery interview courtesy of MEMRI-TV, below:

This is amazing! Yet where are all the feminists? They are screaming “Misandry!” while spelling “woman” as “womyn”, saying that women have fewer rights in America and more… All while in many countries especially in countries under Islamic Law, women are treated as second class citizens. In Saudi Arabia women need to have the permission of a man to leave the house, and must be escorted by a man.

I find most feminists to not give a damn about real women’s rights issues around the world.

'US clamps down on Bitcoin, fears lack of control'

sovereignpunk:

thearmedgentleman:

cerebralzero:

US authorities have frozen the account of the world’s largest Bitcoin exchange, which helps move the customers’ cash online. The booming digital currency has…

that is messed up.

And this, children, is what we call a ‘forced monopoly’.

Do you see the oppression of the state now?

More like they the state does not want competition from Bitcoin. The Federal Reserve can’t keep in control if there is competition from other non-central bank currencies. Why the goverment also went after the Liberty Coin a few years back.

Arizona man winds up jailed, unemployed and homeless after photographing Sandra Day O’Connor United States Courthouse in Phoenix.

Even after the Boston Bombing. The feds declared that all photographers are potential terrorists. So I am not surprised this happen. As a photographer my self I consider this very troubling.

3 Reasons You Can’t Find a Job by LearnLiberty

Are you a college graduate fed up with the uncertainty and stress of the job hunt? Have you been sitting in Starbucks for days, sipping lattes and hopelessly sending out job application after job application? You’re certainly not alone. There are 11.7 million unemployed people struggling to find a job in America. Prof. Carrie Kerekes presents three reasons finding a job in today’s market is so difficult: a mismatch of skills, government regulations, and uncertainty in the market. These three things all have one common factor: government interference.

In my case before the economy went bust. My BFA in Animation was in high demand. At my school there was close to a 100% hire out for students. When the economy went bust, my industry over night required 3 or more years of so called industry experience. It did not even matter how much talent you had. It was a hard line when it came industry experience. I was one of those who graduated when this all went down.

Now I can’t get any work in my industry and I can’t get work locally simply based on having a 4 year degree, in other words I am over educated for the job market in my area. Then for work in other areas of the country. I am under qualified for the before mentioned lack of meaningful industry experience in anything else.

What adds to the entire problem. I have been very vocal about politics that has not been favorable to the goverment on the internet. Then I have also talked about my experiences of living with Aspergers again on the internet. Both make me a liability. One because of the fascist nature of the Obama administration. Then of course animation is part of Hollywood who also does not like people who are anti goverment. The other because of the American for disabilities act (ADA) makes me a lawsuit risk.

As it stands now, if trends keep going the way it is now. I will never be employed again. Being forced to be a burden on society and family. With no light at the end of the tunnel. And people wonder why suicide rates are up. There are to many people stuck in a clasped tunnel with no way out.
