A group who has no oversight. We did not vote them in. They can pass any laws the want on the internet. ACTA came out of the WTO. The WTO is a U.N. organization. If the UN controlled the internet we have no recourse on ACTA. We would be stuck with no internet freedoms. They could also control free speech and other liberties we know in the USA.

FCC Finalizes US Net Neutrality Rules

Here it is folks. The beginning of the end for freedom on the internet. Censorship, here it comes. Once the goverment has its hooks in the internet like this, more rules and regulations will come.I could see a Fairness Doctrine for the internet coming out of this.

Also sounds like a good way to censor information. All the government would have to do is declare. Anything they don’t agree with copyrighted. Or the national news media of Italy could declare anything thing they report is copyrighted. I know Rupert Murdock has said he wanted to do this with any news that his company reports.
I also know the copyright groups like the RIAA and the MIAA have been pushing a law like this in the USA. They have come close to getting a law like this in place a few times in recent times. People think this only has to do with so called piracy. It is much more then that. II just another way of controlling what you can do.
Like I keep saying. Copyright law and patents are just a goverment granted monopoly. So big government sported corporation can control all the resources and ideas, even to the point of being able to patten business methods. Nature, even your own DNA.
Why is it ok the patten public domain and patten things that do not have a tangible and physical percents. I can own a hammer, it is a physical object. IP law is imaginary property. You can own the CD with the music on it. How can you own the performance. Capture the air?
It is not even about money in the end. It is about again control. It it was about money. The MIAA and RIAA would be figuring out how to use the new tech to sell their product to the public. They keep runing away
In my opinion we would not have movies, TV shows and music for sale on the internet. If it were not for Apple. Who could force them selves upon the big media companies.
Beware a law like this is on its way to the US shores. Most likely throw the ACTA treaty the WTO is pushing in secret.

A look at the crooked film and music industry cartels trying to get internet provider British Telecom (BT) to censor the internet by blocking content to the illegal cartel’s content. This is protectionism by the illegal cartel to protect their failed business model, which gives them now less money to buy cocaine.
These illegal media cartels are so scared of competition, they even block imports by stores of cheaper CD’s and DVD, and enact illegal practices as root kits into audio CD’s, and region coding of DVD’s ans Blu-Ray’s to protect their illegal cartels.
Internet censorship is thin edge of wedge, placate the illegal media cartel, then the government will block opposition websites, etc. etc..

A group of law professors have sent a letter to Congress, opposing the Protect IP Act saying that it not only amounts to internet censorship that is barred by the First amendment, but also aligns the US with oppressive regimes. One of these professors, Mark Lemley from Stanford Law School discusses.
