Why do they even let Joe Biden talk? The poor guy can’t say anything without sticking his foot in his mouth. Today, the Vice President said that Americans are pretty much over the bad economy. We’re totally not worried about it any more.

Feb 7, 2013For the last two months Americans have been lining up in unprecedented numbers at gun shops and gun shows across the country. In fact, demand has been so massive that the FBI’s background check system in a number of states crashed as a result of being overwhelmed.
In January, some 2.4 million requests were sent to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), which ranks last month as the second busiest in U.S. history.
It was second only to the 2.7 million people who purchased guns in December 2012.
Even before the mass shooting in Newtown, Connecticut last year, which prompted government officials on all levels to introduce legislation that would restrict access to semi-automatic personal defense rifles and other firearms deemed too dangerous for America’s streets, demand had been rising at a rapid pace.
In the last twelve months, over 20 million background checks have been performed by the FBI.
That amounts to a gun being purchased in America about every 1.5 seconds.
Considering that many states allow face-to-face sales and transfers of firearms without requiring a background check, we could easily be looking at 25 million or more guns having exchanged hands since this time last year.

This is what happens when government attempts to inject itself into the private lives of law abiding Americans.
Richard Feldman, president of the Independent Firearm Owners Association, said the explanation for the dramatic spike in moves to buy guns was self-evident. “This one’s easy. If the American population thinks that a product that they want – whether firearms or DVDs – may not be available in the near future, they will go for it.”
In this case, what appears to be sparking a degree of panic buying are the proposals emanating from the White House and a bi-partisan group of US senators to ban a range of military-style assault weapons including the kind of AR-15 used by the Newtown shooter to wreak carnage at Sandy Hook elementary school. senator Dianne Feinstein, a Democrat from California, has proposed reinstating the 1994 assault weapons ban that lapsed in 2004 with stronger wording that would take 158 specific models of semi-automatic assault rifles, shotguns and pistols off the market.

The President and Vice President have made it a point to pursue a policy of disarmament, even though Joe Biden was recently caught without his teleprompter suggesting that legislation to restrict access to semi-automatic rifles and other guns would essentially do nothing to curb gun violence:
Nothing we’re going to do is going to fundamentally alter or eliminate the possibility of another mass shooting or guarantee that we will bring gun deaths down to a thousand a year from what it is now.

Man who doesn’t ‘believe’ in guns rescued from armed robbery by two good Samaritans with guns

Jan 18, 2013He doesn’t own a firearm and says he “doesn’t believe” in guns at all. But now he’s grateful a couple of other locals did not share his values.
According to Houston-area station KHOU-11, the man had just been victimized at gunpoint by a robber when a pair of good Samaritans came to his rescue recently.
Police say the criminal suspect, identified as Christopher Hutchins, who was canvassing a neighborhood near the 2500 block of Wichita St. near Hermann Park, had no clue what he got himself into when picking his target.
‘I don’t believe in guns, but…’
In this case, the station reported, the victim, Kevin Dorsey, had just walked back to his car from a bar around the corner and had not yet closed his car door one evening when a man alleged to be Hutchins who was wearing all black and a ski mask pulled a gun and put it to his chest. The suspect took Dorsey’s wallet, cell phone and car keys.
Following the robbery, Dorsey started running down the street, at which point he said two men in a Mercedes stopped and asked him what had happened. When he told them, the men in the car took off in pursuit of the suspect. When they caught up to him, they opened fire on him, Dorsey said.
The suspect fired back but in the end, the station reported, the two Samaritans won the gun battle and took him down.
“I don’t believe in guns,” said Dorsey. “I don’t own a gun. I’m totally at the mercy of my saviors. They obviously sent two angels to help me. These people protected me when I couldn’t protect myself.”
After he had been shot, police say Hutchins allegedly jumped a fence and was then attacked by a German Shepherd, an attack that served to prevent his escape. Talk about having a bad day; first, he loses a gunbattle with a pair of armed, justice-minded gun owners, then gets nearly mauled to death by a dog.
Police say Hutchins was sent for treatment at local Ben Taub Hospital and that he is expected to recover.
New rules and restrictions not really about ‘saving lives’
As we’ve pointed out here at Natural News, especially lately since new gun control talk began within the Obama Administration and his allies in Congress following the horrific massacre of children and adults in Newtown, Conn., good people exercising their Second Amendment rights to protect themselves and others is reason enough to end the assault on American gun owners.
“As the president said, if your actions result in only saving one life, they’re worth taking. But I’m convinced we can affect the well-being of millions of Americans and take thousands of people out of harm’s way if we act responsibly,” Vice President Joe Biden said recently, in reference to new gun control policy and legislation under consideration at the White House.
Banning certain weapons, limiting ammunition capacity, licensing and other restrictive requirements won’t save lives – they are measures that will cost lives because they will empower the criminal who is already operating outside the parameters of civil society.

Lupe Fiasco was removed from the stage during a performance at Hamilton Live in Washington, D.C. on Sunday (January 20) night.
The rapper was removed after performing an anti-war song for 30 minutes, and stating that he did not vote for President Barack Obama in the recent November election. He was reportedly booked to perform as part of a celebration for Obama’s inauguration, which takes place on Monday (January 21).
After the performance and anti-Obama remarks, Lupe was asked by security to leave after refusing to move on to a new song.

Petition Calling for Gun Free Zones ‘for the president vice-president, and their families’ Reaches Threshold

January 18, 2013A petition calling for the elimination of armed guards “for the President, Vice-President, and their families” has met and exceeded the previous threshold set by the White House on their We The People petition submission site.
The petition states: “Gun Free Zones are supposed to protect our children and some politicians wish to strip us of our right to keep and bear arms. Those same politicians and their families are currently under the protection of armed Secret Service agents. If Gun Free Zones are sufficient protection for our children, then Gun Free Zones should be good enough for politicians.”
Although it will likely receive only a glib response, the petition reaches its quota just as fervor over a National Rifle Association (NRA) ad pointing out this very same hypocrisy has erupted.
The ad, posted just a few days ago, asks, “Are the president’s kids more important than yours? Then why is he skeptical about putting armed security in our schools? When his kids are protected by armed guards at their school,” recalling NRA executive vice president Wayne LaPierre’s interview with David Gregory in which he stated, “If it’s crazy to call for putting police in and securing our schools to protect our children, then call me crazy.”
NRA Ad: Obama Is ‘Elitist Hypocrite’
The ad was immediately the focus of mainstream media and political attacks. On an episode of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, host Joe Scarborough and co-host Mika Brzezinski ham it up after a public viewing of the ad, asking, “What’s wrong with these people?” and claiming, “I’m embarassed for this country.”

Not one to allow sniveling globalist weasels to slickly and covertly manipulate the public, radio host Alex Jones created his own video response to Obama’s recent comments undeniably targeting Jones, while simultaneously confronting Morning Joe’s sensationalistic reaction to the NRA’s ad.
White House We The People Site and Petition Signature Threshold Increase
Since September 2011, the White House has offered citizens the chance to voice their opinions and have their concerns addressed if petitions garnered enough support to warrant so. The site originally required a signature count of 5,000, however, one month later that requirement was raised to 25,000.Much to the chagrin of the current administration, the website has consistently failed to produce the type of requests concordant with their outlined agenda. “The last two months of 2012, apparently, saw some 73,000 new petitions,” reported the Atlantic, referring partly to the huge surge of secession petitions from states whose citizens requested opting out of the continental United States for a multitude of reasons.
For example, Texas’ petition, which was electronically signed by over 125,000 willing Texans, stated that the “US continues to suffer economic difficulties stemming from the federal government’s neglect to reform domestic and foreign spending.” It blamed the federal government for the NDAA and TSA, and aimed to restore the “rights and liberties in accordance with the original ideas and beliefs of our founding fathers which are no longer being reflected by the federal government.”
Infowars.com took part in the rush offering up a petition that went viral calling out British CNN host Piers Morgan for using his position as a media figure to publicly drum up support for subversion of the US Constitution. The White House responded to our petition during the episode of Piers Morgan Tonight on which Alex Jones, co-writer of the petition and proprietor of Infowars.com, appeared.
Earlier this week, the White House annouced yet another increase to their signature threshold citing an “overall use skyrocket.” They relayed that because “more petitions are crossing the threshold — and doing so much more quickly” that this somehow constitutes a valid reason for upping the threshold to a daunting 100,000 signatures.
Petition to Try Feinstein For Treason Also Reached Threshold For White House Response
Another petition was also able to reach the signature threshold before it was raised, and now awaits the administration’s response. It calls to “Try Senator Dianne Feinstein in a Federal Court for Treason to the Constitution.”“Senator Dianne Feinstein has made it clear she does not believe in the Constitution or the inalienable rights of Americans to keep and bear arms,” asserts the petition, adding, “She is actively working to destroy the 2nd amendment with her 2013 assault weapons ban. For this reason we the people of the United States petition for her to be tried in Federal Court for treason to the Constitution.”
“Feinstein’s hypocrisy on the gun control issue has been well documented. In 1995, the California Senatoradmitted that she carried a gun for personal protection after receiving threats from a terrorist group,” Paul Watson wrote earlier this month.
“However, in the very same year she called for an ‘outright ban’ on all guns for ordinary citizens, sending the message, ‘Mr. and Mrs. America, turn ‘em all in.’”
Infowars’ petition calling for ‘Gun Free’ federal buildings and federal events
Late last month, Alex Jones and Infowars.com launched another petition proposing a ban on gun free zonesfor, not only Obama, his cohorts and their families, but at federal buildings and any federal events, also adding that all federal security personnel should “turn in their guns.”“Jones and Infowars.com believe there should not be a double standard,” our petition declares. “If the government believes gun free zones are a solution for citizens, the same standard should apply to government servants and employees.”
As of writing, our petition needs about 10,000 more signatures by January 27, 2013 to reach the original goal of 25,000.

Although the Obama administration will likely not entertain any petitions not in accordance with the desired agenda, it’s clear that the We the People program has become an absolute bust. Frankly, it’s surprising the site has not been completely scrapped altogether.
Raising the threshold is one way to ensure that only popular opinions are addressed, however, it also stifles legitimate concerns that may be less popular.
