Des Moines, Iowa: A police officer accused of kicking a man in the head and knocking out his front teeth has been fired.
“Obviously we’re allowed to use some force in an arrest,” Halifax told The Associated Press. “But there’s a line we can’t cross, and it was crossed in this incident.”
Delaware County, Pennsylvania: A deputy is facing assault and reckless endangerment charges after allegedly opening fire on his own car as the woman he lent it to attempted to flee. He has been suspended from his job pending the results of criminal and internal investigations.
Price loaned his 2011 Dodge Nitro to a Delaware County woman and was expecting her to return it by 7 p.m. Tuesday.
When the woman, a 24-year-old from Collingdale, did not show up, Price “obtained a ride from Delaware County to Allentown to retrieve his vehicle,” which he found in the 700 block of South Fifth Street shortly after 10 p.m.
“The defendant approached the (vehicle) while holding his Ruger pistol and demanded all occupants exit the vehicle,” Detective Thomas Anderson, wrote in the affidavit.
Identified as Price’s girlfriend in the affidavit, the Collingdale woman was with two other people in the car when, she told police, Price appeared “out of nowhere” and allegedly yelled, “Get the (expletive) out of the car!”
She said Price pushed his pistol through an open passenger side window, pointed it at her and threatened to shoot her if she did not exit the vehicle.
The woman told police Price fired three shots from behind the car as she attempted to drive away.

The 25-year-old man was shot several times but was expected to survive, according to Patrick Camden, a spokesman for the Fraternal Order of Police union.

Abstract: On numerous occasions in the past fifteen years, U.N. peacekeepers have been accused of sexually assaulting or abusing the populations they serve. A Comprehensive Review of peacekeeper misconduct completed in 2005 identified significant problems and recommended numerous changes to address them. The U.S. Army and NATO, in a response to the possibility that their deployed troops will be engaged in or facilitate human trafficking, have enacted new policies intended to remove their troops from the demand for women trafficked for sexual services. The Department of Defense and NATO initiatives are similar to those being considered by the United Nations for preventing sexual misconduct by its peacekeepers. Because the United States, NATO, and the United Nations are all addressing the problems of sexual misconduct by deployed troops, their efforts should be mutually reinforcing. The examples of American and NATO armed forces offer hope that the United Nations will also enact strong measures to prevent future misconduct by its peacekeepers.

Post at 1:57 p.m.: A Dallas County grand jury Monday indicted a former Texas Department of Public Safety trooper who performed body cavity searches of two women on the side of the road using the same latex glove.
Kelly Helleson was indicted on two charges of sexual assault and two charges of official oppression.
The two women that Helleson searched, Angel Dobbs and her niece, Ashley Dobbs, were called before a grand jury Friday. They are suing two troopers and the head of DPS in federal court. The head of DPS is no longer a part of the lawsuit.
The searches of the womens vaginas and anuses were captured on a dash cam video.
