Update: Portland, Oregon (First reported 04-12-13): The city will pay $2.3 million to settle a federal lawsuit filed after a police officer wounded a man when he mistakenly fired lethal rounds at him from a beanbag shotgun. The victim is now permanently disabled and narrowly escaped death only because there was a hospital nearby

beatyourselfup:

The proposed settlement was reached after city attorneys and Monroe’s lawyer met Monday in a mediation session with U.S. District Judge Ann Aiken.

It must still go before the City Council for approval. If accepted, it would mark the city’s largest individual settlement in its history.

“Honestly, I think in the grand scheme of things, it’s not an unfair settlement,” Thane Tienson, Monroe’s lawyer, said Tuesday.

Tienson said the money will help pay for Monroe’s ongoing medical costs and lost wages.

Reister’s gunshots fractured Monroe’s pelvis and punctured his bladder, abdomen and colon. The fourth shot, fired from less than 15 feet away, left a “softball-size hole in his left leg” and severed the sciatic nerve, according to Monroe’s suit.

So it took 4 shots for the cop to realize he was shooting lethal rounds? Oh bullshit! That’s attempted murder.

Corrupt Green Bay P.D. Pt.1

beatyourselfup:

These lazy, lying, useless, union thugs won’t do ANYTHING if your house, business, or vehicle gets broken into – or won’t look into internal corruption – but whenever a Green Bay Packer game comes around they are all begging for overtime work!

Contact the Green Bay Police Department (1-920-448-3200, 432stop.com) and let them know what you think of their “service.”

Then go out and buy a gun to protect yourself.

How to File a Complaint Against a Police Officer  They’ll cover it up, but atleast you can make a record of their illegal activity.

Know Your Rights with Police Officers  Remember, cops are NOT your friend!  They view you only as a source of income for their pensions.

Protect Yourself:

As the police become more corrupt and tyrannical, you’ll soon find the need to defend yourself and protect your rights.  Here are some tools and techniques you can use:

  • Anti-TASER Clothing Experiments  How to short out the probes of a TASER and allow you time to return fire with conventional weapon.
  • Improvised Ceramic Weapons  Simple self-defense weapon which can pass through a metal detectors.
  • Infrared Laser Gun Sight  Shoot on sight and at night!
  • GBPPR Laser Dazzler  Low-cost version of the latest “non-lethal” laser weapon.

  • GBPPR Base Station Chaos – 800  Simple circuit to take down a 800 MHz-band cellular phone repeater site.
  • GBPPR Active Denial System  Counter-personnel directed energy weapon using high-power microwaves.  Will also disable in-car video/audio systems and will pass through non-metallic body armor.
  • GBPPR Electromagnetic Pulse Experiments – Part 3  Disable a moving vehicle, or some magazine-fed guns, with a directly-induced EMP zap.
  • Corrupt Cop/Electronic Counter Measures  Device to jam individual and/or data channels on a 800 MHz trunked radio system.  Prevent cops from calling for backup or running automatic license plate scanners.
  • Detecting Police Personnel/Vehicles  How to detect if a police vehicle is nearby via the MDT radio transmissions.
  • Simple CW GPS Jammer  Defeat a GPS tracking system without a warrant.
  • GBPPR JAMCAT  Audio-activated jammer adapter for a two-way radio.
  • Defeating Passive Infrared Motion Sensors  In case you ever need to quietly “visit” a corrupt cop at their home…
  • GBPPR Interferometric Surveillance Device Experiments – Part 2
  • DEFCAD by Defense Distributed  3D printed weapons, including untraceable AR-15 receivers.  (CAD File)

News to Me: Man Dies In Police Raid On Wrong House

newstome1:

A 61-year-old man was shot to death by police while his wife was handcuffed in another room during a drug raid on the wrong house.

Police admitted their mistake, saying faulty information from a drug informant contributed to the death of John Adams Wednesday night. They intended to raid the home next door.

The two officers, 25-year-old Kyle Shedran and 24-year-old Greg Day, were placed on administrative leave with pay.

“They need to get rid of those men, boys with toys,” said Adams’ 70-year-old widow, Loraine.

John Adams was watching television when his wife heard pounding on the door. Police claim they identified themselves and wore police jackets. Loraine Adams said she had no indication the men were police.

“I thought it was a home invasion. I said ‘Baby, get your gun!,” she said, sitting amid friends and relatives gathered at her home to cook and prepare for Sunday’s funeral.

News to Me: LA Cops Stick It To The Taxpayer, Big Time...

n-morgan:

Posted by Christopher Manion on April 23, 2013 03:54 PM

… for their own malfeasance, of course. Eight “officers” riddled a random vehicle - wrong make, wrong color - with dozens of bullets, injuring two women inside, while they were looking for one of their own (a big fan of Michelle Obama! Only police should have guns!) whom they had trained to kill.

Then he started killing them.

“The eight officers remain assigned to non-field duties pending an internal investigation.”

We all know how that will turn out. The guilty perps are being paid, while the innocent are being gouged.

The victims were hard-working women who rose early to make a living delivering newspapers.

“The purpose of terrorism is to terrorize,” said Lenin. These eight men certainly terrorized those two innocent women. Will any of them be tried for terrorism?

No. Nor will they pay a cent of the settlement. The LAPD is cheering. “Hey, the sheeple are paying!”

“We serve and protect.” Fat chance. They serve themselves, protect themselves, and the innocent civilians are “collateral damage.” The lucky ones just get the bill for the LAPD’s crimes. The unlucky ones get shot.

No charges for NYPD cops filmed punching, pepper-spraying Occupy protesters

stfuconservatives:

Two New York City Police officers will not face charges after the Manhattan District Attorney decided that widely circulated videos of them punching and pepper-spraying protesters amounted to insufficient evidence that they had done so.

Today in “business as usual for the US judicial system.”

News to Me: Men Jailed, Robbed Of $14,000 By Police Without Justification

n-morgan:

By Cop Block

According to Courthouse News Service, a Texas sheriff in Waco, Texas threw two Latino men into jail for 39 days “with no charges, no hearing, and no probable cause” and seized the $14,000 they had saved up to buy a new car. Roberto Moreno-Gutierrez and Jaime Moreno-Gutierrez have filed a claim in Federal Court against Hill County, the Hill County Sheriff’s Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The complaints alleges that plaintiffs Roberto Moreno-Gutierrez and Jaime Moreno-Gutierrez were traveling to a car dealership in Plano, Texas to purchase an automobile. Jaime Moreno-Gutierrez, had sold a vehicle for $9,000 and had taken a loan of $4,000 in order to buy the new vehicle. Texas State Trooper Carl R. Clary pulled the men over, driving a K-9 unit.

The complaint further details that no drugs or drug paraphernalia were found in the vehicle or on the plaintiffs. There was simply no indication of wrongdoing. Trooper Clary seized the money and waited for backup. After 20 minutes, the plaintiffs were taken to another squad car and were told they were going to be interviewed where it was quiet. The arriving officers tore apart the vehicle looking for money or drugs that did not exist.

“At the Hill County Sheriff Department, the plaintiffs were never handcuffed, never Mirandized and never told they were under arrest; rather, they were asked where they were from. The money was counted, and they were then booked into Hill County Jail for what jail documents call pending charges pursuant to ‘money laundering.’”

Stories such as these are by no means uncommon, and simply illustrate the consequences of allowing police such sweeping powers over peoples’ person and property.

News to Me: Albuquerque Cops Laugh About Violating Constitution To Illegally Search Man's Home

n-morgan:

Chris | InformationLiberation

It sure is funny making up excuses to violate people’s rights!

Via KRQE:

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Lobo quarterback David Vega has filed a lawsuit against Albuquerque Police, claiming officers broke one of the most basic rules in the book when they arrested him and lied while doing so.

Vega was arrested last summer for underage drinking and concealing his identity after police say they tracked the GPS on a stolen Iphone to the west side house he shared with three other young men.

Two officers entered the home without a warrant, claiming it was an emergency because they had seen vomit outside the house.

A judge threw out the charges and agreed with Vega that APD had no right to go into the home without permission or a warrant.

“It’s our understanding that the court dismissed the case because she felt the search was illegal under the United States constitution,” District Attorney Kari Brandenburg said.

The suit also alleges that APD had no business having one of those officers on the force in the first place.

That officer, Yoki Maurx, was convicted of contempt of court two years ago for lying on the stand in a DWI case.

Officer Maurx’s lapel camera video showed him laughing as he helped himself into Vega’s home.

“I think that guy may have alcohol poisoning, no I’m serious,” Maurx said.

Vega’s attorney claims the officers are laughing about using that as an emergency excuse to go into the house.

Vega, who was a star quarterback at Goddard in Roswell and then in junior college at NMMI, was kicked off the UNM football team after the arrest in August.

Coach Bob Davie reinstated him after the charges were dropped in February.

Vega claims he was humiliated by the false arrest and that it cost him playing time and money.

He was not charged for the stolen cell phone and it doesn’t appear that anyone in the home was.

Gizmodo - Watch the Police Attack and Arrest a Man for Recording Them with a Cell Phone Camera

As if a police officer taking someone to the ground, putting his knee into his back, cutting his chin open, and telling him to “calm down” because he’s “making this worse for himself” over a video recording wasn’t bad enough, the users in the comments section gave their thoughts on the video.

Because you have the right to do something, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s wise to utilize it. How about just put the phone away and sign for your ticket and you don’t have a split chin or a night spent in jail?

I can’t stand indignant little pricks like this. It’s a basic principal, if your cool to the police generally they will be cool in return.

any time you decide to point-blank video tape someone without asking, you can pretty much expect to be slapped. deservedly so.

You wanna act like a b*tch, ima treat you like one. That all i see in this vid. Whaaaa im getting a ticket, cry baby.

Fuck that dude, got what he deserved for trying to “stick it to the man”.

It’ll be their own fault when the police state they actively support has a boot on their own throat one day.
