CNN Calls for Real-time Police State Surveillance
May 13, 2013
The establishment media is calling for the implementation of Big Brother technology following the Boston bombing last month.
In order to prevent terrorist attacks, CNN argues, there must be real-time surveillance cameras planted everywhere. Panopticon technology is required if we are to expect government to protect us from terrorists and other miscreants, the corporate media network says.
In April, CNN dismissed privacy and civil liberty concerns and argued that “facial-recognition software and other technologies are making security-camera images more valuable to law enforcement. Now, software can automatically mine surveillance footage for information, such as a specific person’s face, and create a giant searchable database.”
CNN says video surveillance is “less intrusive” and “much more pleasant” than pat-downs and other in-your-face Gestapo tactics. “When combined with competent law enforcement, surveillance cameras are more effective, less intrusive, less psychologically draining, and much more pleasant than these alternatives,” writes Heather Kelly.
CNN insists the Tsarnaev brothers became suspects after they were identified on surveillance camera footage.
The government, however, has yet to convulsively prove that the brothers were anything but average spectators at a sporting event. Not one image of the brothers placing a backpack supposedly containing a pressure cooker bomb has been produced by the government. We are simply expected to believe the brothers placed the bomb despite a complete lack of evidence.
Before demanding we surrender what remains of our privacy to the state and its intrusive surveillance technology, CNN – itself a tool of military intelligence – should insist the FBI and the government provide conclusive evidence that the Tsarnaev brothers actually placed the bombs in Boston.
The government has not released video evidence because none actually exists. Teenager Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is an obvious patsy who will be used like Timothy McVeigh for government propaganda designed to further diminish the Bill of Rights and provide an excuse to build the sort of pervasive Big Brother panopticon CNN eagerly argues for.
Bizarre Biometrics Fraud: Brazilian Doctor Tricks Fingerprint Scanner With a Bagful of Fake Fingers
The BBC is one of several outlets carrying the bizarre story of a Brazilian doctor arrested for allegedly defrauding her employer, a hospital in the town of Ferraz de Vasconcelos, near São Paulo. At the time of her arrest, she was equipped with a total of sixteen fingers—ten of which God gave her, and six of which were crafted of silicone and given to her by coworkers. At least three of the extra fingers bore the prints of fellow doctors at the hospital.
The doctor, Thaune Nunes Ferreira, 29, claims through her attorney that she was forced to use the silicone fingers to clock in to the hospital’s time card system in order to cover for absentee colleagues. “She says she was innocent because it is a condition they imposed on her to keep her job,” the attorney notes.
The Red (computer) Scare: Is the Chinese military behind hundreds of hacking instances since 2006? One U.S. computer security firm believes so, fanning concerns that U.S. digital infrastructure, both private and governmental, isn’t up to snuff. From reporter Michael Muskall’s look at Mandiant’s findings:
The hacking activity was likely part of the mandate of the Unit 61398 of China’s People’s Liberation Army, identified in the report as “one of the most persistent of China’s cyber threat actors.” The unit is based in the Pudong New Area, outside of Shanghai from where the computer attacks originate.
Read the report for yourself here, and see if you agree that the recent hacking spree, which has targeted companies from Facebook and Apple to the New York Times and Wall Street Journal, is being dictated by the Chinese government.

If technology kills jobs then we would have been worse off with every technological advancement we’ve ever discovered. Fuck the internet, earth moving equipment and cars. Time to go back to the days of the Pony Express, slave labor and traveling by horseback.
South Dakota Students Testing Fingerprint-Based Payment System
More than 50 students and faculty members at the School of Mines and Technology in South Dakota are part of that pilot programme which uses biocryptology – biometrics and cryptology combined – to allow them to buy items at campus shops.
Users must first set up an account in person, bringing with them identification, banking information and their index fingers. To buy an item, students enter their birthday, as an extra identification step, and then put their index finger into scanner, which encrypts the fingerprint and sends the data over the intranet to a secure system that checks it against their records.
The scan goes beneath the top layers of skin to detect haemoglobin in the blood, meaning a pulse must be detected before the purchase is allowed.
UK troops get mini helicopter drones.
British troops in Afghanistan have received the first of 160 of the drones, as part of a £20 million contract with Norway’s Prox Dynamics.
The 16 gram (half an once) drone has a tiny camera which relays images and video to a remote terminal, and is said to be capable of flying even in windy conditions.
“We used it to look for insurgent firing points and check out exposed areas of the ground before crossing, which is a real asset,” said Sgt. Christopher Petherbridge, with Britain’s Brigade Reconnaissance Force. In a statement, he called the Hornet easy to operate and said it offered “amazing capability to the guys on the ground.”
High Tech Slavery
Alex runs down the hacked emails indicative of an imminent staged Syrian chemical weapons attack, the likes of which would pave the way for military intervention, but more importantly would constitute a serious war crime. Meanwhile in the U.S., no excuse is needed for military intervention, as was apparent in downtown Miami last week where yet another “training exercise” took place boasting Blackhawk helicopters and machine guns firing blank rounds…unbeknownst to civilians. Alex also covers CNN host Piers Morgan’s concession of defeat to the NRA in the face of Senator Feinstein’s flopping gun control bill. Alex also covers other major news items and takes your calls.
