: Comcast Says They Won't Air Ads With Weapons

freedomrollcall:

An announcement by cable giant Comcast says they will no longer run ads with firearms or weapons.

Classic Arms owner Yvonne Evanoff-Joseph got the call and says she was furious at the announcement.

“They’ve had no problem taking our money untill now. And this is all of the hysteria our current administration has created because of their feelings about guns and gun control,” said Evanoff-Joseph.

Comcast says the gun control debate didn’t trigger their decision. In a statement from Comcast they say:

“Consistent with long standing NBC policies, Comcast spotlight has decided it will not accept new advertising for firearms or weapons moving forward. This policy aligns us with the guidelines in place at many media organizations.”

But Evanoff-Joseph isn’t buying it.

“To discriminate against us for the mental condition of this country is wrong,” said Evanoff-Joseph.

Comcast made the decision earlier this month, around the time it acquired NBC Universal. They say it won’t affect ads for stores like Dick’s sporting goods that sell guns, as long as their ads don’t include firearms or weapons.

Infowars: Pennsylvania Survivalist Arrested in New Jersey on Weapons Charge

infowarsdotcom:

Adan Salazar
Infowars.com
February 20, 2013

Efforts to demonize preppers are in full swing as one Philadelphia area survivalist can attest.

A cover of the publication Philadelphia Weekly featured Fernando Salguero on its cover with the headline “Alarmed and Dangerous.”

Fernando Antonio Salguero, 39, has forged a survivalist reputation for himself in and around the Philadelphia area, founding an 800-member strong Meetup group where people can discuss survivalism and preparedness items.

Salguero recently found himself on the wrong side of the law when he went into his neighboring state of New Jersey to contest a ticket.

He was approached by officers outside of the Somerdale, New Jersey municipal court last Tuesday originally because he was suspected of parking illegally, according to reports.

Police ran his license plate and found he had a previous weapons charge and an offense for driving with a revoked license, enough to evidently prompt them to employ a bomb-sniffing dog.

“A police dog indicated explosive materials in the car, but police found none,” the Philadelphia Inquirerwrote.

According to the Philadelphia Daily News, Salguero demanded police obtain a warrant prior to the search (destruction of his property?) – a right afforded him under the Fourth Amendment of the United States Consitution (The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated..) – but when police failed to produce one, they went ahead with a K9 that alerted, and a bomb squad robot that “blew open the trunk of Salguero’s 2005 Ford Crown Victoria.”

“I offered them a key, but they just blew it open with their robot to justify them having their toys,” he said.

What dangerous items did they find in his trunk? Items you would normally find in any prepared person’s trunk: flares, an extendable baton and pepper-spray, which police labeled as “tear gas.”

When pressed to explain why he would have such dangerous items in his trunk, Salguero expressed to the Daily News that ideally he would like to be prepared for various scenarios and that New Jersey’s over-paranoia has led them to nearly become a complete “slave state”:

“If there’s a car accident and something’s on fire and there’s leaking fuel, I want to be able to affect a rescue of that person. A baton is there to break the windows. There’s no problem [with having a baton] here in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, but in the state of New Jersey the people are much closer to the slave state. Slaves are not allowed to be armed … at all.”

He was charged with weapons violations and possession of destructive devices and held on a $35,000 bail.

“Salguero, 39, is the founder of Survive and Thrive, an 800-member group that meets regularly to discuss such topics as ‘stealth and subterfuge,’ ‘repelling home invasions’ and ‘flexing the U.S. Constitution,’” according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

He supports Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, Copblock.org, jury nullification, and pledges to the Constitution. He also refuses to fly because of invasive TSA airport procedures and is a staunch supporter of Ron Paul. Does this sound like someone you know?

Next month, he hopes to have the charges against him dismissed.

This is just one of the latest cases illustrating a concerted effort to single out “preppers” as thought criminals and potential terrorists.

Last year, a “prepper” from the National Geographic show Doomsday Preppers visited his doctor complaining of chest pains. When the doctor recommended he have tubes inserted to assist his breathing, survivalist David Sarti refused and was deemed suicidal, after which police were sent to his house to forcibly haul him to the emergency room. Later when he attempted to purchase a Glock 21 firearm, he found he had been flagged by the National Instant Criminal Background Check System and was denied the purchase.

Last year, we also learned the FBI was monitoring vistors to “prepper” website SurvivalBlog.com by means of a cookie that tracked their web activity.

In the aftermath of the Sandy Hook school tragedy, reports that suspected gunman Adam Lanza’s mother Marsha Lanza was a “prepper” began circulating, further adding fuel to the fire of prepper demonization.

Perhaps most disturbing, last October a National Guard member known as “Soldier X” spoke via phone with Infowars Nightly News Producer Rob Dew regarding a recent briefing his unit underwent on actions the military would take in the event that an Obama election loss sparked rioting in America’s streets.

He stated that soldiers had been told that if riots would have occurred, “Doomsday preppers will be treated as terrorists.”

“Citing not only recent widespread threats to riot if Mitt Romney were to become the next U.S. president, butthreats to actually assassinate him should he win, Soldier X’s superiors dispensed plans of how the National Guard would be responsible for “taking over” and quelling such unrest,” reported Infowars’ Melissa Melton.

“’They have a list compiled of all these doomsday preppers that have gone public and they plan to go after them first,’ Soldier X said. He claimed those in charge are acting under the belief that preppers will be ‘the worst part’ of any potential civil unrest.”

BREAKING: Russia threatens US with Nuclear attack

Russia Warning in St Petersburg against interference in third-party global conflicts, Medvedev said: “At some moment such actions, which undermine sovereignty Syria, Iran, North Korea, can end with a full-fledged regional war, or even, and I don’t want to scare anybody, the use of nuclear weapons

NATO Missile Defense Forcing Russia To Take Countermeasures
February 2013 The lack of agreement on missile defense may negatively affect Russia-NATO cooperation in other areas, too, because Russian relations to the Western alliance rely on strategic stability, Russian Ambassador to NATO Alexander Grushko said in Brussels yesterday. As reported on Voice of Russia radio this morning, Grushko warned that if the nuclear balance is upset by the realization of NATO-supported U.S. plans for a stage-by-stage deployment of a missile defense system, this would strongly affect the entire range of cooperation in the framework of the Russia-NATO Council.

Russia”s probable retaliation measures to the missile defense system also were on the agenda of talks which Speaker of the State Duma Sergey Naryshkin had with French members of parliament in Paris Naryshkin stressed that Russia needs “guarantees backed by objective technical parameters that this system will not be targeted against Russia…. When someone tells us in words that this system is not targeted against Russia but refuses to sign a legally binding agreement in deeds, this certainly raises doubts in us,” he said, insisting that security should be equal for all countries and indivisible. Naryshkin warned that Moscow “cannot twiddle its thumbs while its U.S. partners make decisions on deploying missile defense elements in Europe and putting them into practice…. But this is surely not our choice.” Naryshkin said Russia will have to take measures in response to the missile defense system’s deployment.

Infowars: Activists launch campaign against ‘autonomous weapons’: Killer robots must be stopped

infowarsdotcom:

Tracy McVeigh
London Observer
Feb 24, 2013

A new global campaign to persuade nations to ban “killer robots” before they reach the production stage is to be launched in the UK by a group of academics, pressure groups and Nobel peace prize laureates.

Robot warfare and autonomous weapons, the next step from unmanned drones, are already being worked on by scientists and will be available within the decade, said Dr Noel Sharkey, a leading robotics and artificial intelligence expert and professor at Sheffield University. He believes that development of the weapons is taking place in an effectively unregulated environment, with little attention being paid to moral implications and international law.

The Stop the Killer Robots campaign will be launched in April at the House of Commons and includes many of the groups that successfully campaigned to have international action taken against cluster bombs and landmines. They hope to get a similar global treaty against autonomous weapons.

“These things are not science fiction; they are well into development,” said Sharkey. “The research wing of the Pentagon in the US is working on the X47B [unmanned plane] which has supersonic twists and turns with a G-force that no human being could manage, a craft which would take autonomous armed combat anywhere in the planet.

INFOWARS: Six-Year-Old Girl Expelled For Bringing Plastic Toy Gun To Show & Tell

infowarson:

Schools all over the country are weeding out the terrorists

Steve Watson
Infowars.com
Jan 31, 2013

The deadly rise of extremism in America continues as yet another child has been expelled from school for wielding a toy gun.

VIDEO

WLTX news reports that six-year-old Naomi McKinney brought a small transparent plastic toy gun to school for a show and tell, causing her teachers to freak out.

The kindergartner’s father told reporters that he was called to Alice Drive Elementary in Sumter, South Carolina, because his daughter “was fixing to be expelled.”

“I got in the car and rushed down there and when I got in there the principal told me that she had a gun at school and she pulls it out and it is a little clear plastic gun.” Hank McKinney said.

“You have to show some kind of judgment,” the father continued. “I know there is a lot going on with guns and schools and that is tragic but a six year old bringing a toy to school doesn’t know better.”

The school has expelled Naomi indefinitely, saying in a statement that weapons or replica weapons are prohibited. School officials refused to release any pictures or details of the offending item, saying they are “part of the child’s discipline record.”

“I’m sorry anything can be a weapon,” the father said. “A pencil is more of a weapon than the toy gun she brought to school.”

When the parents tried to appeal, the school sent them a letter saying that the girl would be subject to criminal trespassing charges if she is seen on the campus or at any school sponsored event.

Naomi will instead be assigned a home-based instructor from the school district, according to officials.

When asked what her intentions were regarding the dangerous weapon, the girl said “I chose to bring it to school because I thought I could show my friends it because they might like seeing it.”

When asked to react to her expulsion, Naomi said “I felt bad because i didn’t want to miss all my friends”. Clearly she is very much a dangerous terror threat and has been dealt with accordingly.

This case is far from isolated, as we have seen over the past days and weeks, in the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting. It is now a daily occurrence.

Yesterday we reported on the five-year-old in Massachusetts who faces suspension for building a small toy gun out of lego bricks and play-shooting his classmates.

Earlier this week, we reported on an incident that erupted when a discussion between two children about a toy nerf gun caused a lockdown and a massive armed police response at two elementary schools in the Bronx.

Earlier this month, a Long Island high school was also placed on lock down for 6 hours in response to a student carrying a toy nerf gun.

Another incident this month saw a five-year-old girl suspended after a three hour grilling, and described as a “terroristic threat”, when she brought a pink bubble gun to school.

Last week, a South Philadelphia elementary student was searched in front of classmates and threatened with arrest after she mistakenly brought a “paper gun” to school.

A 6-year-old boy was suspended from his elementary school in Maryland for making a gun gesture with his hand and saying “pow”.

Days later another two 6-year-olds in Maryland were suspended for pointing their fingers into gun shapes while playing “cops and robbers” with each other.

In Oklahoma, a five-year-old boy was also recently suspended for making a gun gesture with his hand.

A 13-year-old Middle School seventh grade student in Pennsylvania was also suspended for the same hand gesture.

When will this reign of terror end?

Vast Majority of Gun Owners Would Defy Ban, Poll Shows
Alex NewmanThe New AmericanJanuary 31, 2013
If the government were to pass an unconstitutional law purporting to ban firearms, two thirds of Americans with guns in their household say they would defy the lawless legislation and refuse to comply, according to a recent poll conducted by Fox News. Even the majority of Democrat and liberal gun owners would refuse to surrender their weapons, the survey revealed. Most Americans also believe that more guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens — not gun bans — would help reduce crime.
The Fox poll interviewed more than 1,000 registered voters in mid-January on a wide range of issues, most of which were related to firearms and the Second Amendment. According to the results, more than half of all respondents said there was at least one gun in their household — and the numbers have been steadily rising over previous years. Another five percent did not know whether there were guns in their home, or they were not willing to answer the question.
Among the 52 percent of respondents who admitted to having a gun in their household, the overwhelming majority said they would defy any “law” purporting to require the surrender of firearms. An astonishing two thirds said outright that they would defy the unconstitutional pretended act of legislation. Some 13 percent were not sure, and just 22 percent said they would give up their guns or submit.

Background checks and gun regulations will do little good if criminals can print high-capacity magazines at home. 3D printing is a new technology that shows great promise, but also requires new guidelines. Law enforcement officials should have the power to stop high-capacity magazines from proliferating with a Google search.

Rep. Steve Israel (D-NY) • In a statement regarding the planned introduction of legislation which bans using 3D printing to print high-capacity magazines — something which a liberty-minded tech group called Defense Distributed has been all over in recent weeks with their Wiki Weapon project. The group actually had a fairly blunt response to Israel’s legislation: “Good f@&!ing luck.” This may be a first — an attempt to regulate 3D printing by a governmental body — so this will be interesting to watch. FBI: More People Killed with Hammers, Clubs Each Year Than Rifles
According to the FBI annual crime statistics, the number of murders committed annually with hammers and clubs far outnumbers the number of murders committed with a rifle.
This is an interesting fact, particularly amid the Democrats’ feverish push to ban many different rifles, ostensibly to keep us safe of course.
However, it appears the zeal of Sens. like Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) is misdirected. For in looking at the FBI numbers from 2005 to 2011, the number of murders by hammers and clubs consistently exceeds the number of murders committed with a rifle.
Think about it: In 2005, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 445, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 605. In 2006, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 438, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 618.And so the list goes, with the actual numbers changing somewhat from year to year, yet the fact that more people are killed with blunt objects each year remains constant.
For example, in 2011, there was 323 murders committed with a rifle but 496 murders committed with hammers and clubs.
While the FBI makes is clear that some of the “murder by rifle” numbers could be adjusted up slightly, when you take into account murders with non-categorized types of guns, it does not change the fact that their annual reports consistently show more lives are taken each year with these blunt objects than are taken with Feinstein’s dreaded rifle.
Another interesting fact: According to the FBI, nearly twice as many people are killed by hands and fists each year than are killed by murderers who use rifles.
